Tonight, Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for president and made history. Her nomination comes at a “moment of reckoning” for our country. Will we succumb to the forces tearing us apart or rise up together? As retired four-star General John Allen said, “the stakes are enormous” in this election. Donald Trump is running a cynical campaign of fear and bigotry that betrays our country’s democratic principles.
Hillary and the Democratic Party are offering something different. As National Review’s Jonah Goldberg tweeted “[the Democratic National] convention is better: it’s about loving America.” Hillary knows that our country is stronger together and will fight for an economy that works for everyone. In the words of former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, Hillary has “huge plans to create good-paying jobs” and unlock opportunity for all Americans. Unlike Donald Trump, Hillary knows that “America is great because America is good.”

It is now official — Hillary Clinton has clinched the Democratic nomination for President. Hillary made history tonight. She is the first female presumptive nominee of a major party in the history of the United States. For many of us, for our daughters and our mothers, it is impossible to find the words to fully express what tonight means. This is a night that many of us will remember for the rest of our lives, a night that says to all of our children, ‘anything is possible.’
“Democrats from coast to coast have made it clear that they support Clinton’s message that we are stronger when we are united, when we work together to uplift people of all colors, genders, loves, and abilities. We must now unite to ensure that Donald Trump, with his wild, bigoted rhetoric and daily deceptions, does not become president of our beautiful and diverse nation.
