But let’s be clear: While Senator Rubio may be trying to keep his distance, he can’t run away from his support for Trump, along with his divisive rhetoric, dangerous temperament, and constant lies.

Here’s the truth: Trump showed up unprepared last night and was forced to rely on falsehoods, lies and completely debunked claims to get through his 90 minutes onstage.

“Who pays for the wall? We didn’t discuss that.”
Donald Trump just came up empty-handed in Mexico and exposed the absurdity of his presidential campaign to the world. Since the launch of his presidential bid, Donald Trump has promised to build a wall across the U.S.-Mexico border and make Mexico pay for it. Over and over and over again. Today, Trump met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto for nearly an hour and admitted:”Who pays for the wall? We didn’t discuss that.”
Whoops.
The wall (and making Mexico pay for it) is Donald Trump’s signature issue. At campaign stops across the country, Trump disparages immigrants, attacks the Mexican-American community and insults the Mexican nation. But south of the border, Trump wimped out.
Trump tried to obscure his past year of comments disparaging immigrants and the Mexican-American community. He neglected to even bring up how Mexico will pay for the wall. The fact is, for months, all Trump has offered the American people are lies and falsehoods in his frantic, power-hungry quest for the White House. This afternoon’s press conference was just more of the same.
this is surreal

Essentially, Mexican president provided a platform for a candidate who’s spent a year beating on Mexicans to act like it never happened
— Edward-Isaac Dovere (@IsaacDovere) August 31, 2016
not great for Trump’s image as hard-nosed dealmaker to not even bring up topic of wall payment plan in meeting with Mexican president, no?
— Rosie Gray (@RosieGray) August 31, 2016
Trump doesn’t mention his desire to have Mexico pay for the wall
— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) August 31, 2016
Trump’s signature line is that Mexico will pay for a border wall.

So if a border wall is a “shared” responsibility “and it will be shared” per @realdonaldtrump does that mean Mexico pays for only half?

Two different speeches. Trump insists trade is a one-way benefit and jobs are flowing out of the US. @EPN says US jobs depend on Mexico.

Last night, The New York Times reported on the discovery of secret ledgers showing that a pro-Kremlin Ukrainian political party had earmarked $12.7 million in cash payments for Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Manafort played a central role in deposed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s successful campaigns for Prime Minister in 2006 and the presidency in 2010—but the relationship didn’t end there. The Times investigation uncovered a deep web of ties between Manafort and pro-Kremlin figures in Ukraine.
The story about possible payments from Ukrainian officials to Manafort is just the latest revelation about the Trump campaign’s troubling connections to the Kremlin. Trump has praised Vladimir Putin, seemingly defended Russia’s annexation of Crimea and threatened to unravel the NATO alliance if Russia invaded a U.S. ally. Trump surrogates reportedly took out a plank in the Republican platform pledging to provide arms to Ukraine to fight Kremlin-backed rebels.

]]>After “months and years of accusations and conspiracy theories,” “one of the longest investigations in history” found “no new evidence.” Eight hundred pages later, we learned “very little to nothing” from the report on the Benghazi tragedy. Members of the media characterized Gowdy’s conclusions as an admission that “there is no conclusion here regarding the focus, heavily, on Hillary Clinton” and that it was truly a “fiasco.”

Amen.
Trump’s presidential run has been the apotheosis of ignorance. At every turn, he’s revealed just how unprepared he is to lead our country. Trump’s admitted that he seeks advice on foreign policy from himself because he has “a good brain,” looks to “the shows” for foreign policy advice and doesn’t even know the difference between Hamas and Hezbollah. As Trump himself has said, sometimes “there’s no better word than stupid.”

Washington, D.C. — This morning, President of Correct The Record Brad Woodhouse released the following statement after Donald Trump’s bizarre, “insane” press conference in Scotland.
Donald Trump is an embarrassment to the United States,” said Correct The Record President Brad Woodhouse. “Amidst one of the biggest moments in recent European history, Trump responded with his typical narcissism, ignorance and know-nothingism. Trump even cheered the economic crisis now gripping the world. Trump should stick to golf course drainage—and be kept as far away from the nuclear codes as possible. All I have to say to Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Reince Priebus and the rest of the GOP saddled with this embarrassment of a candidate: LMAO.

Donald Trump would do serious harm to our economy. But don’t take our word for it. Since launching his presidential campaign, Trump has laid out a series of disastrous (and sometimes bizarre) economic proposals that would devastate our economy. He’s threatened to default on the national debt and launch a disastrous trade war with China. The self-described “king of debt” has complained that “wages [are] too high” in this country and called for an end to the federal minimum wage. In 2006 he even said “he sort of hope[d]” the housing market would crash “because then people like me would go in and buy.” It’s no wonder that Moody’s found yesterday that a Trump presidency would destroy 3.4 million jobs and leave our economy “isolated and diminished.”
]]>The announcer at Trump’s Atlanta rally just claimed that as POTUS, Trump would “continue his lifelong defense of the right of free speech in America. As a matter of fact, he supports the First Amendment just as much as the Second Amendment…” Really? He revoked The Washington Post’s credentials this week, adding them to the long list of media outlets no longer allowed to cover Trump based on the simple fact that he didn’t like the coverage.
Watch the video to hear this claim and to get instructions on how to chant “Trump, Trump, Trump” with a rally sign over your head if a protester starts demonstrating.
ANNOUNCEMENT TRANSCRIPT:
“Ladies and gentleman, we all know that as President of the United States, Mr. Trump will continue his lifelong defense of the right of free speech in America. As a matter of fact, he supports the First Amendment just as much as he supports the Second Amendment; however, some people have taken advantage of Mr. Trump’s hospitality by choosing to disrupt his rallies by using them as an opportunity to promote their own political messages. While they certainly have the right to free speech, this is a private event paid for by Mr. Trump. We have provided a safe protest area outside the venue for all protesters. If a protester starts demonstrating in the area around you, please do not touch or harm the protester. This is a peaceful rally. In order to notify the law enforcement officers of the location of the protester, please hold a rally sign over your head and start chanting, ‘Trump! Trump! Trump!’ Ask the people around you to do likewise until the officer removes the protester. Thank you for helping us make America Great Again.”
